The word Ugadi (also known as) Yugadi has been derived by a combination of two words Yuga and ādi. Ugadi marks the beginning of the New Year. Ugadi is celebrated a day after the first new moon and after the sun crosses the celestial equator on the spring equinox.The people of Telangana state and Andhra Pradesh celebrate Ugadi with great enthusiasm as a festival of prosperity.
